Cultivate your hunger, before you idealize
Motivate your Anger, to make them all realize
Climbing the mountain, never coming down
break into the contents, never falling down
My knee is still shaking like I was twelve
Sneakin' out the classroom, by the back door
A man railed at me twice, though
But I didn't care
Waiting is wasting, for people like me
Don't try to live so wise,
Don't cry 'cos it's alright
Don't dry, with fakes or fears
'cos you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise,
Don't cry 'cos it's alright
Don't dry, with fakes or fears,
'cos you will hate yourself in the end
You say dreams are dreams
I ain't gonna play the fool anymore
You say 'cos i still got my soul
Take your time baby
The road needs slowin'down
Reach yourself, before you bloom
Reflections of fear make shadows of nothing
shadow of nothing
You still are blind if you see winding road
'Cos there's always a straight way to the point you see
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry, 'cos it's alright
Don't dry, with fakes or fears
'Cos you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cos it's alright
Don't dry with fakes or fears
'Cos you will hate yourself in the end
Don't try to live so wise
Don't cry 'cos it's alright

In my opinion, this song is about taking it easy about the past and the present. And to take time you get to know yourself, to see what your fears are and get over them, so you can start to see things in a different way. 'Cause if you keep living in past mistakes and restraining yourself because of fears you'll end up regreting it, ergo, hating yourself in the end.
In this song, I think the speaker is looking back on his life and taking the lessons from when he was young and analyzing his mistakes and giving advice on how not to make the same mistakes he made. I think three of the major things he is saying to do are persevere through the struggles, don't get in a hurry to grow up, and try and be alright with not being perfect.
In life the speaker says you find "winding roads" and that in order to get past those roads you need to see the "straight path" and to do that I think he means to go remember what he said in the first stanza, instead of finding the winding paths up the mountains just go straight for it and even if you fall down keep going break through your limits and see yourself at the top.
The second part that I feel he is advising is that young kids get in a hurry to grow up and be someone else instead of just enjoying their time, for instance when he says "Waiting is wasting, for people like me," when he says this he is referring to his twelve year old self and sneaking out of class and getting reprimanded by a teacher but in his young mind he thought that is was a waste of his time to wait and grow up so he skipped school a lot. He follows this by the first chorus and I think this is the perfect time for it because it brings home his point of not growing up so fast when he says "don't try to look so wise" this is perfect since his twelve year old self thought that he was smart and didn't need to learn.
The third major thing he is say is that in life you will never be perfect so don't try so hard to be the perfect person. At the end of the song the meaning in the chorus changes and it goes from not trying to grow up so fast to being a reminder not to try and be perfect otherwise "you will hate yourself in the end." "Don't try and look so wise, don't cry cause its alright, don't dry with fakes or fears, cause you will hate yourself in the end," when saying this he has now said to me at least that if you try and be too perfect and look too good and care too much about the little things, you end up being fake and always afraid of everything and you will look back one day and hate the person you've become much like he has.
I think it is important that he mainly focuses on what not to do, this shows that he is still learning the things to do and that he is just giving advice on what not to do not that he know what to do but the speaker believes life is better when you don't do these things, even if you don't know what to do instead. Don't ever give up or give into the negatives in life, don't try and grow up so fast there is so much life to enjoy, and don't try and be the perfect person and worry about little insignificant things, or you will hate yourself when you look back on your life.

@Wally123 I love this interpretation of the song.
This song is so beautiful! I really like this song, big part of the reason is probably the way it catches the young hearts dreams and emotions. The chorus refers to things he may have done, which later made him hate himself. I love it!
It truly is an inspirational song.
I really like the lines, "The road needs slowin' down Reach yourself, before you bloom"
I think the meaning behind this song is that you need to take time to get to know yourself and try to decide early on what path you want to take... and then to follow it with dedication and never look back.
Really, I think what's so beautiful about this song is that it's inspirational no matter which way you take it. It could have separate meanings to different people depending on what they're going through at the time...
This is my favourite song from Naruto so far.It is so full of hope, thinking of the lines sometimes comfort me when I'm down. Plus the melody is great. Ah..I just love it!
YAY! I LOVE THAT ENDING
"You still are blind if you see winding road 'Cause there's always a straight way to the point you see."
DEEP!111one Great arrangement, composition-- hell, even vocals (gotta love that Engrish).
Sounds like he is singing about his own experience, when he was younger he was rash, he saying that sometimes in life instead of going down a streight path even though we know what we want we will run down the winding road instead of slowing down and looking around to see the streight path to our goal
maby the artist always knew he wanted to be a musician but took alot of different paths before he realized that all along that is what he wanted
its also about making yourself better, getting rid of your fears before following your path, Don't dry with fakes or fears, dont get stuck with fears, work yourself out while your young then follow your calling
Reflections of fear make shadows of nothing, if you have fear you will achieve nothing anyway if you rush into your path. In shor its saying to improve yourself and find yourself then concentrate on making a difference in the world or whatever you want to do, sharpen the saw so to speak...
Yeah!!! This song is beautiful... Good choice for Naruto's ending...(anime) I love the song!!!
