Such an awesome song! It's obviosuly about having not much luck as far as realtionships going, wondering how to act etc...I can totally relate, gotta act to get some haha. It's good just to be yourself sometimes, tough it never works for me, and John, apparently :s
I'm a hundred kinds of crazy! One of my favourite lines from any JM song. I am constantly told I am crazy, so I love this line for that reason, it suits me perfectly!
As for the meaning. Trying to be yourself when you first meet someone/have a crush on someone etc, is one of the hardest things to do. So you "lie to get a little and laugh at every little thing." And when you finally try to be yourself, you're scared out of your mind wondering whether they're still going to like you or not. But every now and then you have to take that risk. Somone out there must like you for who you are right!?
This song is a more up to date, slightly more confident, bluesy version of "My Stupid Mouth." Constantly not knowing what to say, wishing he were cooler. "Dumbing his process down" so it all works.
Any shy, "un-pimp" guy can speak this song word for word.
Guys? Girls, too! I have so much trouble with guys...this song is so funny because I keep telling myself these things when I start to like someone, or I get mad when I screw up. I love this song! I love the guitar in it too.
