Hesitating Beauty Lyrics
For your sparkling cocky smile
I have walked a million miles
Begging you to come wed me in the Spring
Why do you my dear delay, what makes you laugh and turn away?
You're a hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
Well I know that you are itching to get married, Nora Lee
And I know I am twitching for the same thing, Nora Lee
By the stars and clouds above
We can spend our lives in love
You're a hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
We can build a house and home
Where the flowers come to bloom
Around our yard I'll nail a fence so high
That the boys with peeping eyes
Cannot see that angel face
Of my hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
We can ramble hand in hand
Across the grasses of our land
I'll kiss you for each leaf on every tree
We can bring our kids to play
Where the dry winds blow today
If you'll quit your hesitating, Nora Lee
I have walked a million miles
Begging you to come wed me in the Spring
Why do you my dear delay, what makes you laugh and turn away?
You're a hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
And I know I am twitching for the same thing, Nora Lee
By the stars and clouds above
We can spend our lives in love
You're a hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
Where the flowers come to bloom
Around our yard I'll nail a fence so high
That the boys with peeping eyes
Cannot see that angel face
Of my hesitating beauty, Nora Lee
Across the grasses of our land
I'll kiss you for each leaf on every tree
We can bring our kids to play
Where the dry winds blow today
If you'll quit your hesitating, Nora Lee

This is going to suond extremely typical but I love this song. It reminds me of my best friend. I wouldn't say it described our relationship perfectly, but it reminds me of our relationship perfectly. There are select lines in the song that don't really reflect us, but the song as a whole does us perfect justice; not even necessarily her being a hesitating beauty, but just the whole idea of looking toward the future and seeing all of these beautiful wonderful things that we'll have and share together. The song is very lovely.
i love this song because my name is Nora Leigh :) i put it on when i need to be cheered up... someday, some guy will sing this to me and mean it. haha

I love this line. I love this song.
I have always loved Woody Guthrie and because of this song, my wife and I are going to name our daughter Nora Lee. These two discs are my favorite albums of all-time.
Woody Guthrie's mother and daughter were named Nora.
This song was probably written by Woody when he would watch the kids during the day and write songs for them. This is where many of his children's songs came from (Hoodoo Voodoo, Why oh Why, etc.). I picture him trying to cheer up his daughter, Nora Lee, by writing her this song.
