There must have been some tension when Hope decided to work on her own material sans Mazzy Star. She couldn't surpress her creativity for the sake of the band. She had to follow her muse in spite of the sorrow and allow herself to shine independently from Mazzy Star.
The Mazzy Star bit is a stretch, but you can insert any subject into that. It's the best I can come up with.

Anyway, i think this is one of the greatest songs musicaly and almost lyricaly i have ever heard its such a jsutfication to life "help yourself" its so simple yet the only way.
It´s the best song ever, musicaly and lyricaly, no question about it. Exactly what the lyrics are about is hard to say, but as it says, help yourself. Everytime i turn this on on my iPod when im out walking/skating or just laying in the bed everything turns magic and i start to think of what i really want to do with my life before its to late, i help myself, peace.
