I think the earlier messages are reading too much into it, this sounds like someone who's suffering the agony of relationship breakup - probably in a protracted way:
"are you strong when you're with him"
...as though they've had a "we need to talk" discussion and she's confessed she's fallen for someone else, that their own relationship doesn't fulfill her anymore.

I think this is much more straightforward than suggested too. If you're feeling guilty you avoid eye contact. She's come to break up with him, and she can't bring herself to look at his face, her gaze is lowered, and draws down as the news settles in - so first her stare is directed at his neck, then falls to the 'chain' hanging below his neck.
I have to agree with Ixes. This is most likely about a relationship that has ended. The specific reference to "You used to be like my twin and all thats been was it all for nothing?" That's a reference to the two individuals past after they ahve broken up, most likely after a long relationship - or perhaps a divorce. When he says, are you stronger when you are with HIM -- him can just refer to the new boyfriend. And when they say "Placed him above us all" --> It could be referring to how he is higher than him now even though he's the new boyfriend. It could also be about how shes placing the new boyfriend above all her family and all her friends.

2) A man loses a lover after they were near inseparable. He can't believe that she is happy with God or her new boyfriend just because her new life makes her feel so high and mighty ("are you strong when you're with him/the one who's placed you above us all")
3) Or it could be a sibling! NO one ever thought of that? A twin is usually someone related by blood. Maybe a sister (but could be a brother) who has a lover or possibly found God and the singer feels betrayed and alone now that someone he used to be so close to has pushed him away.
These are the different meanings I could find, but to each his own.

I doubt it's about a relationship. I think it concerns a guy who became such close friends with someone, that they were like twins. They had a history of trials and tribulations. When they took their separate roads, one took the high road of possibly religion and success as the writer took the low road. When the writer saw him again, he felt a little bit of betrayal, loss, and hopelessness. He tried the remember the person he used to love who was closer than a brother, and couldn't feel anything but pain. The final bridge of the song is the writer lashing out with harsh words. Pretty much saying that even though you took the high road, you've still lost (which I'm sure the writer is aware of how wrong he is considering he's about to give up on life).

the lyric is quite straight forward. of course, "him" could have a special meaning. but I think it is about something as "uncomplicated" as lovesickness.
I dont think its about god. I think its about a relation that has ended. Twin means a copy, hes saying you used to be like my copy or identicle but now scince we have seperated how have we changed.
