Initially when this song first came out, I assumed it was literally about "the missing link"...clearly it isn't. The first two lines really spell it out. This song seems to be about the internet in general. "A tool to do good has gone bad, Electric altar for a new religion" - over 20 years later, think of how attached we are to our phones, and technology in general...
"A new way to link, A new way to think" - Information is at our fingertips now. we are literally plugged into everyone and everything. this has changed our thinking...
"Individual thoughts that have become missing" - To me, this eludes to AI, and the idea that humans may be replaced by machines. Even in this age, we are still discouraged from being individuals...
"Laugh at my words you fool, they will soon become living truth" - This Could be a prediction by Chuck himself as to what is to come...
"Look at yourself in the mirror, Reflection is living proof" - Looking in the mirror to see that we are all machines, clones, drones?
