Blue Bird Lyrics

Each day this concrete cave
It takes our love away
You're holding on too tight
The city won't make this right

And I swear
That the proof is everywhere
Romance isn't scared
And our hearts aren't beating cold
Like we are old

A dirt road past the tracks
We'll park our car out back
While nature's radio
Plays music in our home
But oh me
It's a blue bird that I see
And he's got you in his beak
And he'll bring you home to me
When you are old

If you're lost
A chorus of our house we'll sing
A tale so big it brings
That blue bird home to me
With you in his beak
A chorus of our house we'll sing
A tale so big it keeps
A blue bird in my ear
Singing romance isn't scared

This may be a reach, but I think he's remembering a previous love (perhap a recent break-up). He's hurt and he's just trying to get on with his daily tasks, maybe his office-job. Also, he's trying to tell himself to move on, and to forget about love and get his mind off things.

The bluebird reference reminds him of this girl, maybe because its graceful and beautiful. One day they might fall in love again, but for now, he needs to force himself to think love "isn't sacred."

Lyrics seem to be wrong at all the lyrics sites. To me it sounds like --> "And our hearts AREN'T beating cold"

also "A DIRT ROAD past the tracks"
