Awesome song! The vocals are very strong and beautiful. Basically I think it is about being afraid to love and of a broken heart. I think that she is sick of feeling this way and is waiting for someone to "turn her black roses red" (to help her change her mind and love without fear) I think that she is needing / wanting exactly what she is afraid of Kick Ass song and effectively used in The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants. This song is really cool... Yeah, thats about it. A friend told me about it a few days ago and i love it. I think your right about what it means. She is afraid to be 'betrayed' and its obcious she feels lonely and empty, and she is afriad to dream of what she really wants, Love. Although its what she really wants

My friend told me about The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and he said that the character reminded him of me so much, like what she looks like, her personality, how she is with guys.

While I was watching the movie I did see me in her. Plus people tell me I look like Alexis Bledel. Being afraid of the one thing that she wants. And when the part where they play this song came along, I just started to cry because it reminded me of..well, me, lol.

This is an excellent song and very approapriate for the scene. =)

It's a really good song...To me it feels like she's saying what I feel sometimes...She's asking the boy if he can make her not so afraid to falling in love...

to me this song is about learning to trust and getting past fear. she is afraid to let love in when really that is what her heart desires. when she can learn to trust and get past her fear of being broken hearted then she wont be so lonely

The correct lyrics are "Cuz I feel like I've never known love" instead of "I'm feeling like I'll blame it on love ". I looked the correct ones up on her artist page on myspace. I knew that line just didn't make sense.

Wow this song can relate to alot of people. I can relate I know. I can't let myself get close to people but yet I feel I keep missing all the love I see so many people enjoying. I want it but I can't let myself.

Sisterhood of the traveling pants was a great movie and the part where she jumps into the water, was perfect with this song. Alana is a very talented artist though it seems to me she isn't as popular as she should be. Oh well someday.

I love this song! I first heard it on sisterhood of the traveling pants and i fell in love! Yes i also agree that its about her having a broken heart and ready for someone to turn her black roses red. But i can also interpret it as she's somehow lost someone and she's ready for him to come back and turn her black roses red... Its kind of out there but just another theory.
