What's My Scene? Lyrics
And another thing
I've been wondering lately
Oh, baby,
Tell me where have you been?
Now the stage is set
Where's my Juliet, baby?
Is it maybe
My Midsummer Night's Dream?
What's my scene?
Like a talent scout
I'm always checking out new blood
Oh, I'd do good
If you tell me your game.
Playing Solitaire
Doesn't get me where you would
And, honey, you could
Play by any rules that you care to name.
What's my scene? (I gotta know)
They say, yeah, they say
Making love, you can make it pay.
They say, yeah, they say,
But we know there's a better way
Any day.
And another thing
I've been wondering lately
Am I crazy
To believe in ideals?
I'm a betting man
But it's getting damn lonely.
Oh, honey, it only
I could be sure what I feel.
What's my scene? (I'm dying to know)
I'll never know.
Well, I concede
I've been caught in someone else's scene (but that's not me).
Where, oh where, oh where can my scene be?
Please answer - me

ps. Artemisian you're an idiot
Have to agree somewhat with scummyman. Firstly, the singer isn't starting a sentence, he's commencing a stanza of a song that's written, to a certain extent, as stream-of-consciousness which is not subject to typical grammatical rules.
"Playing Solitaire Doesn't get me where you would" Am I the only one who saw an innuendo in that line?
i play solitaire :p
i play solitaire :p
THATS MY TEAM

booo go the swannies :p that's my team
im going to also have to agree with scummyman its such a great song, the singer is using a creative way of starting the song and it makes the song an instant classic :)
Always thought this was Dave's oblique way of 'coming out'
I've always seen this song as simply about an ageing hippie. These guys were clearly of the 'free love' generation and this song is just about how that wave has been ridden and now there's a new wave and this guy can't find his place in it.
As for the beginning of the song - "...and another thing" is an oft used phrase when people are joking about the generation gap. "...and another thing! I hate how kids dress these days!"; "...and another thing, I don't understand the haircuts of today"; "...and another thing! What happened to 'real men'?".
It's a joking phrase people use to acknowledge that they are ranting and probably getting a little old and grumpy.
He's taking the piss out of himself as he now sees himself as the old man screaming "...and another thing!".
The start of this song just gets to me. "And another thing". Who starts a conversation like that? Like, sorry, do I know you? Were we speaking?
That's my little grammatical rant. Move right along.
