Face Lyrics

I drove around this town
It looks the same as 1998
When everyday we drove around this town
Trying to find our way

How did the lights start setting on my dear
New York, New York
I'll make this loud so maybe you can hear

Tou know I love, love, love what you've got
I know, know, know that I'm not
The greatest brother that girl could have
Promise me you'll drive around with me soon

I drove around this town like 90
But not much is the same
Well I still pray a lot for you
I do it every day

How did the lights start setting on my dear
New York, New York
I'll make this loud so maybe you can hear

You know I love, love, love what you've got
I know, know, know that I'm not
The greatest brother that a girl could have
Promise me you'll drive around with me soon

You know I love, love, love what you've got
I know, know, know that I'm not
The greatest brother that a girl could have
Promise me you'll drive around with me soon

Well this song is simply amazing. To me it sounds like Seth is talkin to his/or a sister and wishing to be a better brother. Hits home real hard for me.

This song is not actually from seth's point of view, but from his best friend/former drummer's point of view. Lane Biermann wrote the song for his two sisters, who are 8 and 10 years younger than he is, after their parents split. Lane stayed in their hometown with their father, while his two sister's moved with their mother.

"I drove around this town, It looks the same as 1998" -the town they all lived in as a family, the year 1998 their mother left their father. "How do the lights look there tonight (correct lyrics) my dear? New York, New York." -the girls were constantly moving from place to place, never setting in one place. This was a nod at always feeling so far away. "I'll make this loud, so maybe you can hear." -in spite of the distance. "You know I love love love what you've got, and I know know know that I'm not the greatest brother that a girl could have, but promise me you'll drive around with me soon." -because of distance and age difference, the girls could never really connect with their brother, but they all loved each other and wanted to be able to spend time together even if it was just to take a drive somewhere as siblings. "I drove around this town like '98 (correct lyrics) but not much is the same"- driving around like they did as a family in 1998 before mom left, but nothing is the same as it used to be.

This song is even more beautiful and sweet than people think. My brother will be walking me down the aisle someday and I will have this song playing for the "father/daughter" dance because he wrote that song for me... Hi, I'm Lane's little sister, Dominique ☺️

This is an amazing song. One of my favorites from them. It sounds so much like one of Switchfoot's.
