This song is supposedly about the use of DMT (note: _D_ivine _M_oments of _T_ruth), and probably meant to reflect the psychedelic experience. Often times, DMT users report a more "geometric" quality to hallucinations (I speak from reading, not experience), and I think the rhythm in this song reflect that, especially with the part in the intro where the meter changes around the melody, completely rearranging your interpretation of the melody...sort of like a perspective shift on life maybe.

I know this is an old post but you're 100% correct. I actually use this song almost every time for my trips because as Terrance Mcckenna said if you want to truly explore & go farther you need the same settings.

To be shpongled means to be on an a different astral plane of existence usually through the help of DMT. But yes, they also put a lot of meaning into the accompaniment as well as the lyrics.

Also, it's not really geometric... It is. But when you truly blast off with DMT (you shoot upwards very quickly through a tunnel & then through the light at the end of the tunnel). When you're on the other side... You do see amazing geometric things that are impossible. Google "machine elves" first time I saw them... When I came back I couldn't speak for 30 minutes. My mind was just blown, couldn't explain it. I also sometimes see in complete 360 globe vision. Everything above, below & behind. Picture windows everywhere... Information flows like mad. But there are also entities there that are unexplainable. Things that have no relation to this world whatsoever.
If I were to recommend a single drug for people to do once in their life... I'd say DMT or LSD.
now we all know the words were true in the sappiest songs (yes, yes)
just curious, what relation does that line by DCFC have with this song?

dmt is so tasty

YES.
You put into words what I have not been able to. But you are absolutely right. And I am speaking from experience =P
I agree with what others have said. I just wanted to add that it the "do dee do" nonsense seems to at some points turn into pretty clear English "Do DMT, do LSD. I love them both equally."
There's no supposing about it... it's clearly about powerful hallucinogens. The reverberating, deep hums and phasing vocals are akin to the "tone", a buzzing or humming that one experiences during the onset of inhaling DMT, and to how voices and other noises can sound during the rise of the experience. Another example of their reproduction of DMT's common sonic hallucinations can be heard at the very beginning of "A New Way to Say Hooray" where his voice almost turns to staticy noise.
