Silent Running Lyrics

Earth between my toes
and a flower in my hair
That's what I was wearing
when we lay among the ferns
Earth between my toes
and a flower I will wear
when he returns

Wind upon his face
and my fingers in his hair
That's what he was wearing
when we lay beneath the sky
Wind upon his face
and my love he will wear
when swallows fly

Tears of sorrow running deep
Running silent in my sleep
Running silent in my sleep

Cover art for Silent Running lyrics by Joan Baez

I think of the shot of the dome ships flying through space when I hear this. She was perfect for the narrative of the story. It's a longing and remembrance of our planet before we destroyed it with our greed. Her other song, "Rejoice in the Sun" still brings this 72 year old hippie to years. Ms. Baez's voice is perfect. She still performs if the event is too help people.
