Just admit that you're wrong
And I'll give back what I borrowed or stole
From the parent's house
From your studio
It's the principle of . . .

You said wait here
Prove all my hypotheses

Catching up with the band
Their drummer had left to pursue his career
I rode in their van
They stated the parting was ugly, it brought him to tears

You said wait here
Prove all my hypotheses
You said wait here
Prove all my hypotheses

"Just admit that you're wrong And I'll give back what I borrowed or stole From the parent's house From your studio It's the principle of . . ."

One of the last conversations with an ex, she is asking for her stuff back, which she accused him of stealing, though from his point of view, it was their stuff, some at his house and some at hers. It's the principle of her admitting she was wrong. He wants to believe if she would do this, he would not feel so hurt about how things ended.

"You said wait here Prove all my hypotheses"

This is the most ambiguous line in the song, also my favorite. I think she tells him "wait here", as in "just wait and stay in this relationship" even though the relationship is shit or she has betrayed him.
His hypotheses is that it won't work out and she is just proving it to him exactly.

"Catching up with the band Their drummer had left to pursue his career I rode in their van They stated the parting was ugly, it brought him to tears"

In his free time he was catching up with the other members of his or some band. He showed them a painting by her and they didn't like it. The "him" brought to tears is the author.

"You said wait here Prove all my hypotheses You said wait here Prove all my hypotheses"

Corpse I Fell In Love With
Gadjits, The
He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
