Drum Gets a Glimpse Lyrics
It seems like all our friends are gone.
You drove them out.
Was I naive to think they'd stay?
You were a bore.
Why can't we just try start again?
It just won't work.
There's so much that we couldn't say.
You speak in tongues.
I'm bothered by these trembling stars.
Then close your eyes.
Why should we try to stay awake?
'Cause you can't sleep.
Then why should I be here at all?
'Cause you can't sleep.
You drove them out.
Was I naive to think they'd stay?
You were a bore.
Why can't we just try start again?
It just won't work.
You speak in tongues.
I'm bothered by these trembling stars.
Then close your eyes.
Why should we try to stay awake?
'Cause you can't sleep.
Then why should I be here at all?
'Cause you can't sleep.

Can't believe there aren't more comments here...what a beautiful piece, the dynamics between both characters is such a powerful testimony to their contrasting personalities. The delicate washes of sound also add a wonderful dimension. This was definitely the first song to capture my interest on this complex album that i'm still learning to appreciate.
Great little duet between Drum and Mt Heart Attack here. Wish I had the lyrics to all the songs, might illuminate the album a bit more
I think the following lyrics are more accurate:
It seems that all our friends are gone. You drove them out. Was I naïve to think they’d stay? You were a bore. Why can’t we just try start again? It just won’t work.
There’s so much that we couldn’t say. You speak in tongues I’m balled in all these trembling stars Then close your eyes Why should we try to stay awake? ‘Cause you can’t sleep. Then why should I be here at all? ‘Cause you can’t sleep.
I updated the lyrics to be, uh... right.
To me this song paints an image a nuclear wasteland. The first voice is singing from where the bomb went off. You can here a geiger counter thought the song which is SO hauntingly beautiful, it swells with the instruments indicating deadly radiation poisoning. The first voice sounds very defeated and numb, the second voice is perhaps the voice of reason that tried to prevent this tragedy, sounding confident and relax, but offering little sympathy. This is one of the most atmospheric songs I've every heard, the swelling cymbals sound so much like like wind. It reminds me of that scene in call of duty 4 when a nuclear bomb goes off and you wake up in the after math and it's eerily peaceful, everything is tinted blood red and there a wind blowing the dust in one direction. You try to walk forward a bit and then fall down and die.
Definitely one of my favorite Liars songs.
