I Am in Love with You

To me, the lyrics sound like they're from the point of view of someone pressuring their partner into having sex. They insist they're in love, and that being in love means they should sleep together. They pressure their partner into going further than they're comfortable with by saying they have to "finish what you started", and try to blame them for the situation, saying it's their fault for "get(ting) into situations ... you can't handle". When their partner won't do what they want sexually, they angrily say that they're not in love.

This is a commonly depicted scenario in the Western world, stereotypically with a young boy in the role of the narrator and a young girl being addressed. The person being addressed, typically being female, is under pressure simultaneously to be virtuous, chaste, pure, and not "promiscuous" or "slutty", whilst also satisfying her boyfriend, not being "frigid", et cetera, and has been indoctrinated with this idea that sex=love: that sex without love is immoral, and that love without sex is pointless.

Haha, to be honest, this song is me in a whole. I have the habit of 'easy to pick up, easy to drop.' Doesn't mean I can't hold feelings for a long time (I held a crush for 3 and a half years straight), it just means I can change my mind quickly! I can't help it. shrugs :)

Ahhh, but I love the lyric, "No don't get yourself in situations Darling that you can't handle"

Sounds like something I'd say. I always try to warn those who approach me beforehand, what exactly they're getting theirselves into. They usually chicken out :P

This song is about a girl who thinks love is sex and once it's over there isn't love anymore. All the love is gone and she has to find "love" with somebody else. So pretty much a slut.

I'm not sure if she is telling herself this or if she is telling the guy that. But she won't let herself get into situations because she obviously can't handle them.

Basically. Don't get emotionally attached is the meaning.

I just think the singer is saying anything it takes to get the person into bed, even if you have to tell the person you love them. The singer knows the guy wants her but he seems to be reluctant, so she's saying dont worry if you lose yourself. She's basically seducing the person. Its seduction 101

I think this song is about a person going through the motions of getting back into the dating game and not being able to handle it so they go through a "quick-fix" relationship by means of a one-night stand.

I think the line "I am in love with you, at least for the moment" sums up the whole song - it has to be my favourite line, or maybe this person has just turned off their emotions and is happy with a one night stand kick. hmmm, maneater?

The beginning and end of a 'relationship' all in one song. I love Imogen!

The line "Come on into my bed with me" really makes the song, its my favorite part. Sounds like a person who likes quickies ;)
