Solid Rock Lyrics
Out here nothin' changes, not in a hurry anyway
You feel the endlessness with the comin' of the light of day
We're talkin' about a chosen place
You wouldn't sell it in a marketplace, well
Well just a minute now
Standing on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Right down the line
Round about the dawn of time, When dreamin' all began
A croud of people came
Well they were looking for their promised land
Were running from the heart of darkness
Searching for the heart of light
Well it was their paradise
But they were standin' on solid rock
Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change were blowing cold that night
Oh
They were standin' on the shore one day, Saw the white sails in the sun
Wasn't long before they felt the sting, white man, white law, white gun
Don't tell me that it's justified, 'cause somewhere, someone lied
Yeah well someone lied, someone lied, genocide
Well someone lied, oh, ahh
And now you're standing on solid rock
Standing on a sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Oh-oh-oh no, no-oh
You feel the endlessness with the comin' of the light of day
We're talkin' about a chosen place
You wouldn't sell it in a marketplace, well
Well just a minute now
Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Right down the line
A croud of people came
Well they were looking for their promised land
Were running from the heart of darkness
Searching for the heart of light
Well it was their paradise
Standing on sacred ground

Well someone lied, oh, ahh
Standing on a sacred ground
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowin' down the line
Living on borrowed time
And the winds of change are blowing down the line
Solid rock, Standing on sacred ground
Living on borrowed time

No comments??? OMG!
Well it's such an awesome song! It's about the Australian "genocide" (for lack of a better word). He's basically just talking about how the white people took over and the Aboriginies are slowly dying out. Pretty neat song!
this song is amazing!! it was one of the first (if not the first) aussie song to deal with issues of aboriginal land rights. it's basically saying that the land still belongs to the aborigines and white people are 'borrowing' or renting it or whatever. it's basically talking about all the injustice of how the aborigines have been treated. It's a great song! If you don't know it already, check it out!!
This is the full story of the song solid rock from reading a history book about Aussie rock
Shane Howard's (Lead singer and songwriter for Goanna) Doctor said he needed a break, he was run down. Shane went on holiday to Uluru, where he attended Aboriginal festivals called Corroborees. These festivals moved Shane deeply. He started writing the song at Uluru and finished it when he got back. The song is about Aboriginal people
First ever pop song to feature a didgereedoo
This song beat Midnight Oil to the punch by 5+ years as far as aboriginal land rights and other issues were concerned. Yet Midnight Oil grabbed the attention and long-lasting fame. Unfortunately in music the breaks don't always go the way of the most talented.

This is a great song. To us Australian Aboriginals Uluru is a very sacred and spiritual place.
