I hope it doesn't show
It'll go away
It's just a passin' phase
It'll go away

You can dress nautical
Learn to tie knots
Take lots of Dramamine
Out on your yacht
But when you're all alone
And nothing bites
You'll wish you'd stayed at home
With someone nice
But when you think you made it disappear
It comes again, "Hello, I'm here", and
I've got angst in my pants

You can be smart as hell
Know how to add
Know how to figure things
On yellow pads
Answer so no one knows
What you just said
But when you're all alone
You and your head
What's the computer say, it's mumbling now
It says "hey Joe"
It's spelled it out and
"You've got angst in your pants"
"You've got angst in your pants"

But when you think
But when you think you've made it disappear
You're sure you made it disappear
And you've still got angst in your pants

I hope it doesn't show
It'll go away (go away)
It's just a passin' phase
It'll go away (go away)
I hope it doesn't show
It'll go away (go away)
Give it a hundred years
It won't go away
And I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants
I've got angst in my pants

Well, i think the song is about being depressed or anxious, and trying to do things (taking up sailing etc) to try and forget about it, but it never really works. And you've still got angst in your pants. But that's probably not it. I adore this song.

This song is obviously about how it feels to be a man and how we think about sex constantly AND the things we do to try to distract ourselves so we don't think about it...usually always to no avail. The desire for sex always returns, hence the lyrics: "I hope it doesn't show, it'll go 'way, it's just a passing phase, it'll go 'way".

As much as I love being a guy and having a healthy sexual appetite, sometimes it would be nice to shut it off for five or ten minutes...ha ha!

Sparks is probably the most underrated and underappreciated band in American history. Their lyrics are clever and humorous but they make a lot of valid points with their words. Their music is innovative and catchy...although it might take a few times around to start to appreciate any of their songs.

Anyway, this song is a great example of how they can explain something serious, like the male libido, in terms of an energetic song.

I'm pretty sure this is a song about sexual tension, or perhaps just not getting enough sex. If you're out alone on a boat, or stuck inside staring at a computer screen, you'll have angst in your pants.

"Angst in My Pants" is a euphemism for "I got a boner". It also is close to the phrase "Ants in your pants" which might be where they originally came up with "Angst". This song's just about boners coming at inopportune times and not leaving us alone. I hope it doesn't show.
