Crystal Blue Persuasion Lyrics

Look over yonder
What do you see?
The sun is a'rising
Most definitely

A new day is coming, ooh, ooh
People are changing
Ain't it beautiful, ooh, ooh
Crystal blue persuasion

Better get ready
To see the light
Love, love is the answer, ooh, ooh
And that's all right

So don't you give up now, ooh, ooh
So easy to find
Just look to your soul
And open your mind

Crystal blue persuasion, mmm, mmm
It's a new vibration
Crystal blue persuasion
Crystal, blue persuasion

Maybe tomorrow
When he looks down
On every green field, ooh, ooh
And every town

All of his children
And every nation
They'll be peace and good
Brotherhood

Crystal blue persuasion, yeah
Crystal blue persuasion, aha
Crystal blue persuasion, aha
Crystal blue persuasion, aha

The song is about Tommy's conversion to Christianity. You can go to the last book of the Bible and in the first couple verses see part of his inspiration. But Shekhinah light or glory is where he got the purse blue light idea. This song has a wiki page that explains it--and there's an interview on YouTube with CSN that Tommy did that gives good insight as well.

When you think about it, the spirituality of the song is pretty overt: "Maybe tomorrow When HE looks down On every green field And every town All of His children And every nation They'll be peace and good brotherhood"

Very mellow. It's about the Flower Power movement of the '60's. Love, peace and chicken grease. :)

Nope. It's about God. James and his band we becoming Christians and he got the idea from the Book of Revelations. He was reflecting on what John saw as the "New Jerusalem".

"Crystal Blue Persuasion" was used in BREAKING BAD, Season Five, Episode 8, "Gliding Over All." The song didn't contain drug references then but it was used for (black) humor value on this show since Walter and friends made their fortunes "cooking" a special blue-colored crystal meth.

Crystal…blue…persuasion

That crystal, with hints of blue, persuading you that you can do anything, is a tempting thing. It can make you think whatever you want it to. Love, peace, desire, lust…power…control…….infinite pleasure, control like you can’t even imagine.

You are invincible; you are god, you are everything and nothing can hurt you…

Wonderful song... My favorite by Tommy James. Better than Crimson and Clover in my opinion.
