I think this song is about Christianity and their narrowminded beliefs.
Agrred...there is quite a bit of history of christian/catholicism in this piece...if you really analyze the piece...The one line that sticks out to me though is "You condemn those who think free, to hell"...its so true of christians and catholics...especially in the middle ages when the church was basically the central power...if you didnt believe the church then you were immediately condemned to hell and most of the time either excuted or excommunicated.
I think its about what our government has become.
it is all in the title We are a divided nation. It is all about the government and not enough about the little guy. that is where the nation is divided.

I totally agree with the song. In all aspects.
It's about propaganda and religion and news brainwashing the public, so that the leaders and governments can take total control. The "in the name of Fascism" and "undo their Liberal state" parts pretty much some it up.
This is about christians, and everyone that supports it.
I just realized how much i completely agree with this song. I always thought this way, but i never eally analyzed the lyrics of the songs before now.
