Bonfires Lyrics

I was given wine
We’re feeling okay
And quite all right
You wash my tears away
And make me wanna stay
And bonfires lit up the shores

(Wa fa fa-wey)
To go beside you
Is where I want to be
(Wa fa fa-wey)
To laugh, to love

Days of roses and wine
Drifting astray
With your hand in mine
You stroke my fears away
And make me wanna stay
And bonfires lit up the shores

(Wa fa fa-wey)
To go beside you
Is where I want to be
(Wa fa fa-wey)
To laugh, to love

(Wa fa fa-wey)
Where to go and hide?
We’re going to the sea
(Wa fa fa-wey)
To laugh, to love

And this is how it went;
I am here to stay
Roaring with the wind
There’s life within

This is what I give
A circle is complete
Another circle spins
There’s life within
Within

life goes on, just flow with it. As long as you have your loved one - you're okay.

Wow. Amazing song. Why hasn't anyone posted any comments on it yet? I agree with the chick above. ^

I love how haunting this song sounds. It just says basically what the first person commented. Life and love continue, everything is groovy.

Yeah, amazing song, the way it's haunting adds to it. I think it's just about love, and life and memories.

I like the line "A circle is complete/another circle begins". It reminds me of 'the wheel is come full circle'; the circle or wheel, is life's fortune, which is always turning and changing.

I agree with what HighFlyingAdored ^ says, how it sounds haunting, because she is reflecting on something that was, but is now in the past:

'And this is how it went; / I am here to stay/ Roaring with the wind/ Theres life within'

Life goes on.

This song depicts a ritual human sacrifice from the victim's perspective. She is given (drugged?) wine, ritually cleansed ("You wash my tears away") and illuminated by bonfires, which are "roaring with the wind." "This is what I give" -- her life; "there is life within" - promise of an afterlife.

It's the story of a lonely girl finding love.

First phase covers the dating and the meeting. The second phase covers the courting, roses daily and settling into daily life as a couple. Third phase, a vacation together. Possibly a honeymoon. Fourth phase, she is pregnant. She has found a home.

This is song, I'm sure is being sung from the perspective of someone who has departed the Earth, and the first half is about the time when life was good, days of Roses and Wine, drifting astray. Going to the sea, to laugh, to love. The second clue, is in the line, this is how it went (past) , I am here to stay, roaring with the wind, there's life within , this is what I give, a circle is complete, another circle ( cycle) spins, there's life within. Suggestive to me of someone who passed on whilst giving birth. She lives on through the Genes of the child.
