That's When The Audience Died Lyrics
Fascinate, fascinate, fascinated
With the underclass
She broke down, she broke down, she broke down
and decided to act
For every new baby
Investment, investment
for every whore, relief
No matter a drunkard,
a swineherd, a spaniard
we're all treated equally
Canada, Cana-daddy-doody-da
Let her keep a memento
She has not been able to sleep
Since the days of Trudeau
On music, on painting, distract us with drying
and don't let the audience die
Watch Alice get better, and Peggy get stronger
they'll still publish once in a while
With the underclass
She broke down, she broke down, she broke down
and decided to act
Investment, investment
for every whore, relief
a swineherd, a spaniard
we're all treated equally
Let her keep a memento
She has not been able to sleep
Since the days of Trudeau
On music, on painting, distract us with drying
and don't let the audience die
they'll still publish once in a while

Such a beautiful song with amazing strings. I wish I knew what all of the references were about.
i feel the same way about about the refrences yet another final fantasy original
Pierre Trudeau was the prime minister of Canada from 1968 - 1979. He was incredibly popular, even a sex symbol, and is often said to have redefined the country.
i'm just guessing, but i think alice and peggy must be alice munro and margaret atwood, two of canada's bigger literary names.
It seems to me that this song is about the emphasis in political Canada--say, the things that are being neglected. For example: Canada's arts and music are only now BEGINNING to get recognition and the funding they deserve.
Alice and Peggy are what you say, Milou66. Trudeau redefined the status of homosexuals in Canada with his statement that the government has no place in the bedrooms of Canadians.
The lyrics look pretty good, but it's "drawing" not "drying." This is just coming out of the booklet I got with Has A Good Home.
the string arrangement at the end of this song is GORGEOUS
