Library Lyrics

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

To warm your cold, cold blood

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

To warm your cold, cold blood

I, I, I, I

Goodbye
Goodbye childcare/drunken doctor
Goodbye Finnish beauty
Let the people stop and wonder

Anna, Gerald, Henry Waugh
Let this longing retire
I will purge my shelf of classics
Watch them fade upon the fire

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

To warm your cold, cold blood

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

To warm your cold, cold blood

I, I, I, I
Will burn, burn, burn
my every book

To warm your cold, cold blood
To warm your cold, cold blood
To warm your cold, cold blood

Cover art for Library lyrics by Owen Pallett

This is a familiar strain in Owen Pallett's songs - "warm" love trying to overcome "cold" lust. I get the sense that it is not going to work. By the way, this is one of the few, maybe the only, Final Fantasy song where most of the singing is NOT by Owen. The distorted sounding part is sung by Reg Vermue (Gentleman Reg), a fellow Toronto indie. I got this info from the Final Fantasy bulletin board. Finally- Anna must be Anna Karenina from Tolstoy's novel; Gerald might be Gerald Crich from "Women in Love" by D H Lawrence; and (J.) Henry Waugh is a character in Robert Coover's "Universal Baseball Association...". Anyone have an ID for the 'drunken doctor' or 'Finnish beauty'??

Clearly a writer giving up something precious to him, for something more precious to him, burning his books to keep someone warm. A selfless sacrifice. Love.
