This is my favorite song of all-hard to choose. I have no idea why-other then it has resonance with me. The album(back then they were vinyl albums!),was called "Walkabout". A movie named "Walkabout" came out; http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067959/ The relationship that the young English girl has with the Aboriginal boy to me explains the lyrics altho' they can encompass any love affair/relationship. "I'll bear one precious scar that only You will know"...
This song was inspired by The Lyric provided to the band by Jeannette Obstoj. It is about reincarnation. It is about lovers who have been together many times. "I'll bear one precious scar that only you will know" has to do with exactly what it says. I will have a scar that only you will know and that is how you will know it is me over any other.
Outside of any other context, the lyrics seem to be a declaration from one lover to another that, although they have not separated in reality, their relationship has been over for quite some time (hence, a secret from others) and that it's time for them to separate and find new partners.
