Hazel Eyes Lyrics
I hail from the flatlands of east Anglia
A town that once could boast prosperity
She had trekked for many moons from a land afar
But the cruel nets had emptied the northern sea
And she said "Hoots I cannae get back tae me hoos in bonny Scotland"
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
The elements had to taken their toll on her
Her face was weather beaten and her hair greasy
I had never seen a set of eye more hazelerer
And a tear did fall as she looked up at me
And she said "Hoots I cannae get back tae me hoos in bonny Scotland"
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
I shall travel with thee
For to see your folks in Scotland
With their blessing on one knee
I shall ask for your left hand
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
A town that once could boast prosperity
She had trekked for many moons from a land afar
But the cruel nets had emptied the northern sea
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
Her face was weather beaten and her hair greasy
I had never seen a set of eye more hazelerer
And a tear did fall as she looked up at me
Girl with the hazel eyes ahahaha
For to see your folks in Scotland

AhhhhhAhhhhAHhHhAAHAaah!
I love that song! It's simply awesome! The guitar
hm. this song confuses me to as what it actually means. whether its a piss take of frankie the scottish bassist who left the band or whether it has some deeper meaning. seems to me like its just about a girl, with... hazel eyes from scotland really. i love this song anyway haha
I first heard this song on the radio of a taxi a little while ago on my way to work (I was running late LOL), and I think I remember the DJ saying it was based on an old Scottish fishermen's folksong. Not surprising, considering the line "and the cruel nets had emptied the Northern Sea". I believe it's just about a man who falls in love with a woman he cares for during her time away from home. No matter what it's about, I think it's the Darkness's most touching and beautiful songs to date.
HA, i love this song! the chorus is so fun and catchy. (and easy to remember)
it's sweet [:
I love this song because I have hazel eyes, haha. It's one of 'my songs'. I bet I get pretty annoying singing most of the song in a screamingly enthusiastic falsetto, mwahaha.
best song of One way ticket
Love this song. Still wondering why iTunes marked it under 'explicit' lyrics.
Cause it always sounds like 'I hate it when the fat man's always danglier'. XP
