I completely see the connection with being overcome with fear when approaching 'that certain someone', but I'm also picking up on something a little 'raunchy' :) To me, it seems like he could be talking about being on ecstasy.
Feeling the rush, talking shit, facial expressions, 'how the feeling races, back up to their brains', 'the heartbeats at its peak'.
I'm not sure, obviously, but I think it's an interesting idea. Try listening to the song again with that in mind, and see if you pick up on other things I didn't mention here.
This song is pretty clear-
It's about a guy (I guess Alex)... and this girl who everyone digs and is tryna impress is coming up to him, then he gets all tense and sweaty and red and stuff, he doesn't know what to say, it's "on the tip of his tounge but he can't deliver it properly," duhhh. I never really thought about the meaning but when I listened to the song to try to figure it out I got it right away.
The Arctic Monkeys are cool cuz they put themselves in the funny situation in their songs.... but the situations are so realistic. This song is definetly up there!! =]
I am actually 12 and I understood this song straight away it's very simple "one look sends it coursing through the vains oh how the feeling races" is basically saying when he first time he saw her he got that feeling of love surging through his body.
"To form expressions on their stupidfaces" They are showing off by pulling faces at her trying to be funny and stuff.
"So tense never tenser could go a bit frank spencer" Frank Spencer allways messes up and stuff and you are really tense when you're around a girl you like.
