Tennessee Train Tracks Lyrics
Come dry me out
cause I've been drinking all night
before I pass out I need your ghost to tell me this bloodless voice
is as meaningless as it sounds
hard fought for some spare time
to sit around and search for something I aint never gonna find
colors fade in the night sky
lightning bugs are flashing on the
front porch no it's in my head
to take me back to another time
cause once its gone it's just something you aint never gonna find
no matter how hard you try
there's no reason to stop it and you
couldn't if you wanted now
come dry me out
just not with your
fist I'm not looking for a fight
hard fought for some spare time
to search through books and records for something you aint never
gonna find
if you could just make up your mind
train tracks
can't decide
Tennessee morning leaves you paralyzed
cause I've been drinking all night
before I pass out I need your ghost to tell me this bloodless voice
is as meaningless as it sounds
hard fought for some spare time
to sit around and search for something I aint never gonna find
colors fade in the night sky
lightning bugs are flashing on the
front porch no it's in my head
to take me back to another time
cause once its gone it's just something you aint never gonna find
no matter how hard you try
there's no reason to stop it and you
couldn't if you wanted now
come dry me out
just not with your
fist I'm not looking for a fight
hard fought for some spare time
to search through books and records for something you aint never
gonna find
if you could just make up your mind
train tracks
can't decide
Tennessee morning leaves you paralyzed

it's about someone wanting you to relive something you had in the past, but knowing the only place for you is somwhere in a forward direction.
fuckin good song. i think you're right in a sense, but i think it's a lot deeper as well. it's about an existential choice, the fear of choice, a fear of a future that lacks something you can't let go of from the past. It's about how we'll never really understand anything fully as the essence of the world is a mystery, a void. It's about being in the moment, "train tracks can't decide " seems to say that you have to be here now to make the choice to move in a more positive direction, if you are in a stupor where you are stuck on a thought or stuck in a cycle, you are in a sense inanimate, and thus you cannot mold your future. it's about a lot of things.
