These Arms Lyrics
with an upwind facing starboard
i was unsure of where to go
the salt burns my skin
and your eyes were cold as the ocean
this is our day today
won't you find the way back to these arms
and we're bound for where we started
with a down wind course through the harbor
at sunset i was sorry
that this was our day today
this is our day today
why can't you find the way
won't you find the way back to these arms
are we bound for where we started
cause the start is where we're bound to end up
the start is where we're bound
and we're bound to end up where the start's at
and when twilight turned darkness
i was unsure of where to go
the salt burns my skin
and your eyes were cold as the ocean
this is our day today
can you find the way back to these arms
this is our day today
won't you find the way back to these arms
i was unsure of where to go
the salt burns my skin
and your eyes were cold as the ocean
this is our day today
won't you find the way back to these arms
with a down wind course through the harbor
at sunset i was sorry
that this was our day today
this is our day today
won't you find the way back to these arms
cause the start is where we're bound to end up
the start is where we're bound
and we're bound to end up where the start's at
i was unsure of where to go
the salt burns my skin
and your eyes were cold as the ocean
this is our day today
can you find the way back to these arms
this is our day today
won't you find the way back to these arms

With an upwind facing starboard...
I hear this song and think of a guy being on a sailboat in the middle of the sea. He wants to get back to land, but who will be there to waiting on him?
this is such a beauty! i love it.
amazing song
i think its quite simple, he's wishing for her to come back to him. maybe he's thinking more about it because "this is our day today" -- perhaps meaning its their anniversary even though they aren't together anymore. might also mean he's out on a boat like il collare said :)
I thought it was more that it was their time to be together, but she didn't show up. that's kind of depressing
anna is on the right track.
This is a break up song. He has been out at sea (the relationship) for awhile, and its stormy. Her eyes are no longer filled with love, but are cold. So he has turned the boat around and is heading back to where they started, as nothing - not together. He doesn't want it to end, he wants her to be that person she was, to find her way back to him, but if she can't then he has to end things. This is their breakup day unless she finds her way back to his arms. That is my take anyway...
i cry every time
i love this song! i first heard it on an episode of "the unit". it's such a beautiful love ballad! my favorite song from matt costa :)
