I think he sings this higher than Kelly Clarkson, which makes me smile.

And I don't know why he put the Yeah Yeah Yeah lyrics in there, but I like that too.

Ted Leo did not make this song as a 'mash up' of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song Maps and Since You Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson, he made it to rip on Kelly Clarkson for practically coping the riff the YYY's created for maps note for note. The only real noticeable change is the change in tempo. This is why he slows it down to its original format and does Maps right in the middle of the song. Then he speeds it back up again and and goes back to Kelly.

Sure it might not be that big of an attack on Kelly but Karen O had some choice words about the symmetry

This is a cover of the Kelly Clarkson song as well as Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I heard that he based in on a mash-up that he heard of the two songs. It's fantastic. Simple song with only an acoustic guitar and Ted singing but he combines the two songs to create a pleasing and euphonic song.

i just love the mockery of poppy chicks who can do whatever with a song and people with be like ITS A HIT. totally targeting mainstream pop. and the chuckle at the end, sells it.
