Two Weeks From Twenty Lyrics

Jimmy wasn't really popular
He had a couple of friends back home
Sooner or later they're all gettin' out
So he had to join up alone

He was dreamin' of the ivy leagues
Since he was only three feet tall
Get the hell out of Jersey
And then he would never look back at all

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
They're gonna miss him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

Jimmy never had a reason to stay
Cause all the factories shut down
All he had was a line for his name
So he could sign away his right to be proud
He tried to kiss her on the way out the door
She just put her little hand on his face
I don't understand why you're leavin', she said
But I hope you're gonna ask me to wait

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
His lady missed him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

Jimmy's mother went to capitol hill
So she could fill her heart up with joy
Maybe shake a few hands while she's there
And tell em' thank you sir for takin' my boy

And then you hear em' say
That miles away
We lost another one that we sent with a gun
His momma missed him
He was two weeks from twenty
And there's still no shame
From the man to blame

No there's still no shame
And we're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame
We're all to blame

lol first of all, an attempt to set up democracy in iraq isnt exactly giving us freedom to write songs, what do u mean Wake me up when september ends isnt a war song? did u even watch the video? wow.

Way to represent, dnask8 (Rolls eyes) Next time you try to make an intellegent argument, try your very best not to sound like a total idiot. I agree with your position, I guess, but, dude, the way that you said it was just childish and it reflects bad on all conservatives. Don't fit the stereotype.

Weird, I really like this song, its obviously all about the War and tells the story of Jimmy going off to war and coming back dead. Bit of a slow song? I still like this one. Good lil tune.

This song is obviously an anti-war song and i absolutely love it

Its actually my 2nd favorite song off of L and S. I don't why though... its totally different sound for yellowcard. I just love the infectiously good sounding chorus.

Hmm I thought this site was for posting about what the songs mean not about what you think about the war and what not.

Well I really like Yellow Card's new album. I think they did a great job.

dnask8, I think that they have their own opinions, whether they believe fighting for your country is prideful or not. "All he had was a line for his name So he could sign away his right to be proud"

He did sign it, so obviously, Jimmy thought it was prideful. The fact is, Yellowcard, like most bands are liberal. This song IS about the war in iraq, and you're political opinions only contradict your stupidity. You dont want them talkin about the war and such, but you yourself bring your own political views, i voted for bush blah blah. no one cares if he 'had it together better' than kerry or not, the fact is, soldier ARE being killed in war, and it does affect people at home. And in the end, to those people was the war worth the people's lives? answer is no. As a whole, our country may believe it was worth it but to 'his lady', his mom, and his friends, it simply wasnt. Don't diss on YC because of their political views, and one song shouldn't make you 'like' or 'hate' them. Go listen to Wake me up when September Ends by greenday, you'll hate them too

"Go listen to Wake me up when September Ends by greenday, you'll hate them too"

Well, for one that song truly is not ment to be about the war or anything. Billie wrote the song about his dad dying in september, hence wake me up when september ends...

I like dnask8 have lost a little bit for yellowcard. Maybe its my views.

To me, this song is an anti-war, Bush song. But, like dnask8 said, because of these soldiers, they have a freedom to write these songs.

Ya they made the video into a war song, But if you listen to what the WRITER of the song said it is about his fauther dieing. It wasnt written to be an anti war song.
