Have You Forgotten? Lyrics

I hear people say "we don't need this war"
But I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about out freedom and this piece of ground
We didn't get to keep 'em by backin' down
They say we don't realize the mess we're gettin' in
Before you start your preaching, let me ask you this, my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a livin' hell
And you say we shouldn't worry about Bin Laden
Have you forgotten

You took all the footage off my TV
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
"It'll just breed anger"
That's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out lookin' for a fight
Well after 9/11, man I'd have to say that's right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a livin' hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten

I've been there with the soldiers who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

Have you forgotten all the people killed
Yeah, some went down like heroes
In that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten

Have you forgotten
Have you forgotten

This song is to all the crazy liberals out there against the War on Terror and War In Iraq. If we don't take a stand against these terrorists, then who will? France? Germany? Russia? Hell, no! All of these nations are in bed with the enemy, somehow or another. It is our duty to protect liberty and freedom and destroy those who threaten it. So shut the hell up and show some support for your country and the men and women defending it! Bush may be an idiot, but at least he's not afraid to do what he thinks is right.

to every person who believes that 9/11 was done by our government...you are the most retarded people on the face of this earth and dont deserve to live. This is prolly one of the most powerfully written songs ive ever heard in my life...the lyrics are amazing.

Hey, uh, venushalley, when was the last time you turned on your TV and actually watched the news? Because you are obviously not up on your current events. You've got some gall insinuating that I don't know what liberty or freedom mean. Unlike you left wing lunatics, I support our men and women overseas and have family and close friends who have or currently are serving abroad. This song is dedicated to the folks who died in the tragic events on 9/11 and the people like you who are quick to forget the victims, not to mention the freedom fighters who are dying every day to protect us here on the homefront. Oh, and before you go making an more assumptions, GManiac6899 is a tribute to my ownership of General Motors vehicles, including my '68 Pontiac Lemans 350 coupe, '99 Oldsmobile Alero, '04 Chevy Silverado and '04 Pontiac GTO. I thank the Lord every day to be a Southerner who knows right from wrong. So unless you have the facts straight you'd do best to keep your commentary to yourself. You look like less of an ass that way. God Bless America and God Bless the South!

not only do i support the comments made by gmaniac6899 (except im a bow tie guy) but also this song brings 2 sayings to mind...

1st...liberalism is a mental disorder...

2nd...stand behind our troops, or stand in front of them!

God Bless

i also think this is a very powerful song and its most touching part is here-

Have you forgotten all the people killed Yeah, some went down like heroes In that Pennsylvania field

i've stood in that field in somerset which isnt too far from me i've felt the power there and seen the tribute people have made to those people that died and it takes me back to there.

no comments on this? oh, right... 9/11 never happened, it's a gov't conspiracy with the jews and israelis... blah..

All sarcasm aside, it's a great song, imho.

i don't really like this song and i don't agree with a lot of people on here. First, this song seems to be talking about the current war, which is in iraq and has absolutely nothing to do with 9/11. I am against pointless wars, i can understand going after Bin Laden because he terrorized our country, but going to Iraq was really pointless. And second, i find this quote from gmaniac6899 totally offensive; "Unlike you left wing lunatics, I support our men and women overseas and have family and close friends who have or currently are serving abroad." Now i consider myself pretty left wing, but most left wing people i know including myself, support the troops, but not the war, there's a difference. My dad went to Iraq for a year so i know how it feels to have someone over there. So please don't go around saying all left wingers are ignorant un-americans.

To whom ever made the comment about the Left wing lunatics... I'm currently a DEP in the army going in as a Combat Medic and I swing left on the political spectrum. I also find that comment offensive.

OOHRAH!

Song meaning: Why we kicked ass in Afghanistan, why we're currently kicking ass in Iraq, and why Iran is next on the list. Take it from a military man: We WANT to be there.

honestly people, many of you all say "bring the troops home!" what makes you think they want to come home... as told in the song, THEY know what they are fighting for, as do i. & when i get older & if things go according to plan, if i ever end up on that battlefeild, you better believe that i'll remember exactly what i'm fighting for.

as Americans you should ALL be proud of the men fighting for us to have a better life.

in my opinion, those who disagree with the war deserve to be put over in Iraq & see the damage for themselves.
