Bang Bang You're Dead Lyrics

I knew all along
That I was right at the start
Bout the seeds of the weeds
That grew in your heart
Self satisfaction for the factions
Who formed to tear us apart
Well I gave you the Midas touch
Oh you turned round and scratched out my heart

Oh what did you expect?
Oh tell me what did you expect?
To lay it on my head
So is it all upon my head?

Bang bang you're dead
Aways so easily lead
Bang bang you're dead
Put all the rumours to bed
Bang bang you’re dead

I knew all along
But I was loathe to believe
There was nothing but spite
Fury and lies
Of the words that you weave
An illusion to a conclusion
And oh its oh so tawdry
When you put it to bed
Kick it in the head
Oh wont they just let it be

Bang bang you're dead
Always so easily lead
Bang bang you're dead
Put all the rumours to bed
Bang bang you're dead

Oh what did you expect?
Oh tell me what did you expect?
To lay it on my head
So is it all upon my head?

Bang bang you're dead
Always so easily lead
Bang bang you're dead
Put all the rumours to bed
Bang bang you’re dead
Bang bang bang bang you're dead

This song is so blatantly about Pete it's untrue. Very subtle Carl, really.

Great song not quite up to Pete's very high standards but yeah it's obviously about him although carl does deny it hmm...

Awesome song, I'm not too sure it's about Pete though, it might just be another love song

It was obvious some people were gonna ruin DPT songs by stamping 'THIS IS ABOUT PETE' all over them. Music doesn't have to be about a person but feelings too. When I first heard it a while back I too thought 'Pete' straightaway before realising that was very unfair on Carl. Could be about Pete but probably not. It may suprise some but Carl did have a life before Pete and The Libertines and has one after.

this could be interpreted as about pete, but i dont think it is. everyone thought music when the lights go out was about pete and carl but it's just an interpretation. i'd say this is more likely just a love song. it's good, though :D

i heard this was actually written while the libertines were still together, but carl added the first verse afterwards, or changed it slightly so it fit the whole pete situation better. so it wasnt origianally about him, but that one verse is now

^Who's Pete Dougherty? I know of a Pete Doherty. I'm assuming you meant to post that to a different song because Bang Bang isn't actually just about him.

This is such an awesome song!! i believe its just a love song about a girl Carl or a bandmate really cared about, but she just used him and so saying, bang bang your dead is just like saying that he would be rid of her and not care about, shes as good as dead
