ELPHABA
I'm limited:
Just look at me - I'm limited
And just look at you -
You can do all I couldn't do, Glinda
So now it's up to you
(spoken) For both of us
(sung) Now it's up to you:
GLINDA
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you:
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
ELPHABA
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend:
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you:
GLINDA
Because I knew you:
BOTHI have been changed for good
ELPHABA
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for
GLINDA
But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share
BOTH
And none of it seems to matter anymore
GLINDA ELPHABA
Like a comet pulled Like a ship blown
From orbit as it Off it's mooring
Passes a sun, like By a wind off the
A stream that meets Sea, like a seed
A boulder, half-way Dropped by a
Through the wood Bird in the wood

Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
I do believe I have been changed for the better?

I've loved this song since the moment I heard it. & now I'm leaving school, its the only song that sums up how I feel. I general though, about the whole year group. There's been ups and down, and I've felt like rubbish and I've felt euphoric, but in the end, the whole thing made me who I am, and all in all, it was a good experience, not because of me or what I'd done, but because of the people around me, who've changed my life forever just because we ended up in the same school x
Couldn't have said it better myself. I want to sing this song at my graduation as a solo, because I'm not singing it to any one person in particular. Everyone I've known has made me who I am today--whether they know it or not. I also want to have a slide show of photo memories going. :)

It speaks for itself. It's saying thankyou to everyone we meet in our lives, that have an impact on us. Even if we never see someone again through our lives, they still have had an impact on our lives and changed us into we are today.
A couple days ago someone left me who I loved so much. She told me to listen to this song to make me feel better. When I listened to this song I broke out in tears. This song is basically telling me that no matter where she is she will always be with me in my heart and I will always be with her in her heart. So it may hurt when someone leaves you, trust me I know! But listen to this song and think of the words it is saying, it has a positive message. So I just want to say thanks to the person who moved for impacting my life! I love you!
Oh, this song means so much to the students at my school. The drama and choir classes have fun with this play and sing the songs often. At the end of the year everyone who knew the song was asked to sing it during the end-of-year assembly. It was touching.
To me this song means the world. My best friend moved away this year and when I heard this song I couldn't belive the irony. I learned that sometimes the people who you never thought would change you do. And even though you may not realize it at the time, the change is usually for the better and in the end it's the ones that make you the person you are, are the ones that you'll remember. My favorite line is "It well may be That we will never meet again In this lifetime So let me say before we part So much of me Is made of what I learned from you"
I love this because even though we may not keep contact with those who impact us, what that gave will remain forever.
this song means a lot to me ..
my old friend and i love this play, along with the girl who played elphaba, idina menzel. we used to sing it all the time and we decided that "this was our song" you know .. like about us. well we got in a huge fight .. i don't even know what it was about .. something so stupid. the meanest things were said and we went on hating eachother, you can lose a best friend of 3 years in less than 3 seconds .. i never knew that, i just hope one day she reads this and realizes that dispite all of the nasty things i said - i really do care, for whatever it's worth .
I think the song is not only a the final goodbye to the two witches, but also Elphaba trying one last time for Glinda to do the right thing and collapse the Wizard's tyranny.
this song means the world to me as well. it makes me think of meeting someone that you really care about, and you got to be really close to them, and how they've changed you for good.
This song strikes a chord for me for a few reasons: Elphaba and Glinda's story is so sad since they have to hide their friendship and since they never see each other again. It must be the hardest thing knowing you'll never see your best friend again.
The composer asked his daughter what she would say to her best friend if she was to never see her best friend again. The first verse was his daughter's answer
This song makes me think of a friend of mine in elementary and Middle School. She was a really nice girl, the kind of person who just didn't have a mean bone in her body. Tragically, she was murdered almost four years ago. If I were to say goodbye knowing I'd never see them again, I think I'd say something like this.
A beautiful friendship song.
I have a few close friends who I met during a summer camp, and ten years later we're friends, we still keep in touch. If I was to sa
I guess what they are saying is that they both gave each other a real lesson in life and that is to not judge but just help others 'for good' purposes
