I Don't Want To Say Goodbye Lyrics

I don't want to say goodbye
Let the stars shine through.
I don't want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you.

Just like the light of the morning
After the darkness has gone
The shadow of my love is falling
On a place where the sun always shone.

Don't you know that's where our hearts both belong?

'Cause I don't want to say goodbye.
Let the stars shine through.
No, I don't want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you.

Together our two hearts are strong
Don't you know know that's where our hearts both belong?

'Cause I don't want to say goodbye
Let the stars shine through.
I don't want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you
All I want to do is live with you

It's simple to get the meaning of this song just by listening to it or by reading the lyrics. It's about two people parting ways and how one loves the other so much that they don't want to leave them. Both the song and the recording by Teddy Thompson are simple, but that is part of its beauty. The song is one of the sweetest, saddest songs I've ever heard, and it's my favorite song of the moment. It comes from the movie "Brokeback Mountain" and fits perfectly with the film in style and content, but it is universal in its theme of longing and lonliness. It's perfect.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This song is so simple, yet it still captures all the loneliness and heartbreak that is captured in the film. I love it. It's really nice to listen to on repeat, too. :)

It is a simple, beautiful song. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. If you've seen "Brokeback," it is a lighter song that still carries the sadness of the movie.

Wonderful feedback - but I guess on a note more specific to the movie the song really could have been sung by Jack - his yearning to be with Ennis is so strong that all he really wants is to "live with him" - he doesn't need the I love you's, the emotional side, the declaration of love, the hand holding, etc. - he really just wants to spend his life with Ennis - being together. You could transpose the lyrics into Jack's mind the last time they are together after their argument - Jack really does not want to Say Goodbye and be with Monroe from Texas - he truly loves Ennis with all his heart and wishes Ennis could see that together they could be strong. Always get a lump in my throat when I hear this song!
