Old Dog Lyrics

I'm just an old dog, laid to rest here in my bed,
Licking my wounds, master's shot me in the head.
I'm just an old dog, laid to rest here in my bed,
Licking my wounds, master's shot me in the head.

If I could have one more time.

To howl at the moon, chase bitches in heat,
Have the world at my feet, I would give anything.

All night long, I drink whisky from my dish,
I dream of yesterdays and I hope and cry and wish.
I wish my master had the heart not to shoot his old dog,
But I have no teeth left and I'm pink just like a hog.

If I could have one more time.

To howl at the moon, chase bitches in heat,
Have the world at my feet, I would give anything.

As I lay here down, sleep fills my eyes,
I hear my master load his gun and then he shoots me twice.
As I fade to black, I think about my youth,
The days when I was strong and the world was so new.

If I could have one more time.

To howl at the moon, chase bitches in heat,
Have the world at my feet, I would give anything.

But I'm just an old dog.

If I could have one more time.

Wow, I just heard this song and its amazing. Yes, I guess it is like Of Mice and Men. I really like the verse about reminiscing. Even though I'm still in my youth and I can't directly relate, it makes me feel sentimental.
