You Look Like Rain

I think this song is about the allure of drugs. Sandman was a mysterious figure and not much of his personal life is known, but drugs may have been a factor in his untimely death.\n\n\nYour mind and ypur experience call to me: sounds like someone who is fascinated with drugs and what they can do to the mind and body\n\n\nYou have lived and your intelligence is sexy: lots of famous and intelligent people have used drugs. I.e Tim Leary, William S Burroughs, Jack, Kerouac, etc.\n\n\n\nI want to know what you got to say: i want to find out what drugs are all about\n\n\nI can tell you taste like the sky, Cause you look like rain: i think the chorus has a very powerful meaning. How can something taste like the sky? I take this to mean that people dont really know what they are getting into when they begin using drugs, whatever they think they "know" gets thrown out the window. The second part you look like rain means that drugs themselves are very alluring just like some people find rain to be.\n\n\nYou think like a whip on a horse\'s back: this is a warning using a whip to a horse. Drugs might keep you going for awhile, but...\n\n\nStretched out to the limit you make it crack: drug use always ends in misery and pain, hence the whip cracks\n\n\nSend that horse \'round and \'round the track: drug use leads into the vicious cycle of addiction\n\n\n\nAnyways that\'s what I take the lyrics to mean. Musically the song is also very seductive, kind of like drugs.

this song is just a good blues song, kind of subtly sexy but not really. It makes me think of someone sitting alone at the bar and being observed. Or a lonely walk in the darkness of the suburbs. Or sitting in a cafe while outside the sky is dark and it lightly sprinkles.
