Rock 'n' Roll Children Lyrics
It was starting to rain
On the night that they first decided
It was blinding with snow
On the night that they ran away
They were found in the dark
But they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
She was meant to be wild
He was nearly a child
But they only could feel each other
They were paper and fire
Angel and liar
The devil of one another
Then they were thrown to the ground
Wiht a terrible sound
Just like somebody broke a heart
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend
But they got Rock 'N' Roll
It was starting to rain
On the night that they cried forever
it was blinding with snow
On the night that they screamed goodbye
They were lost in the dark
And they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
On Rock 'N' Roll Children
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend
On the night that they first decided
It was blinding with snow
On the night that they ran away
They were found in the dark
But they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
He was nearly a child
But they only could feel each other
They were paper and fire
Angel and liar
The devil of one another
Wiht a terrible sound
Just like somebody broke a heart
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend
But they got Rock 'N' Roll
On the night that they cried forever
it was blinding with snow
On the night that they screamed goodbye
And they never returned
Just like somebody slammed the door
Alone again
Rock 'N' Roll Children
Without a friend

I think it's a Romeo and Juliet kind of thing actually,I think it's about two people in love, and no one wants them together so they are seperated, hence the lyrics about yelling goodbye
It was starting to rain On the night that they cried forever it was blinding with snow On the night that they screamed goodbye
*They ran away and are saying goodbye, because they know they can't be together, and when they are being taken away from each other they are screaming goodbye
They were lost in the dark And they never returned Just like somebody slammed the door
*Once they no longer knew each other they could never be happy again
On Rock 'N' Roll Children Alone again Rock 'N' Roll Children Without a friend
*same as before, can't be happy anymore
I also like Frankenstrat's interpretation, but I'd like to take it even further and apply it to any lovers who come from backgrounds that would normally oppose each other.
They say love transcends all boundaries, and it can be found in the strangest of combinations, such as, say, a Christian and an athiest who are both willing to recognize that in spite of their differences they can both still be together.
Rock N Roll Music was originally brought about by mixing two main types (Country/Mountain/Folk) and (Blues/Soul/Gospel). Without getting too much into the backgrounds, it can be said that Rock N Roll was a fusion of God's Music and the Devil's, which is why it makes sense the subjects of the story are called "Rock N Roll Children."
I like to intepret these lines as follows: "They were found in the dark But they never returned Just like somebody slammed the door"
as the two children consummating their love by committing suicide together, thus "never returning," a lot like Romeo and Juliet. The slamming of the door could be the closing of the door to Eternity after it's been shut behind their backs (i.e. after they both die)
Why the hell isnt there any comments on this song?
Because Dio sent everyone that dared question him off to Dio world, just like these kids; haven't you seen the video?
it actually kinda reminds me of the children's crusade... during the crusades, they figured hey, the enemy won't hurt children...so they all sent their kids off to go and fight. but they all drowned and shit. okay...nerdy time over... great song.
Yup. I'm going with Frankenstrat on this one. Romeo and Juliet. It's quite plain to the eye, really... Then again, good lyrics should never have an ABSOLUTE meaning, and therefore it stands to reason to interpret them however one damn well pleases, but still... Romeo and Juliet! :P
Some of the elements in the lyrics of the song Sacred Heart are used in the music video of Rock 'N' Roll Children. In this video, two kids get in trouble and end up in antique store named Curios. The store belongs to the wizard played by Ronnie James Dio, who seems to have some secret involvement in the matter of their trouble. They hide in a closet and disappear in the nightmare world of the wizard, separate of each other. This dark world of the wizard reflects ordinary society, a hostile world for children of rock 'n' roll, because they don’t want to be enslaved by its rules and authority figures. In the end they find each other and the wizard's game is over.
