Coast Of Maine

Amazing band. This was the song that got me hooked on them. I think its meaning is pretty straight forward. He's leaving the girl he loves, and then he realizes how much he misses her and he wants to go back, and he's asking her to wait for him. Only thing that bothers me is Portland is in Oregon if I remember correctly, not Maine. Maybe he mean's it like port-land. Doesn't Maine have a big fishing industry, therefore many ports?

To forgottentimes: There actually is a Portland, ME. I live in a town not 10 minutes away. No one cares much about it, though, haha.

this song has a pretty obvious meaning, it's about leaving someone you love, and missing them so much. and it's not about portland oregon, it's portland, MAINE! portland, maine is on the coast of MAINE as it states in the song, i thought it was pretty obvious because i am from the east coast and go to portland, maine a lot, but i can see how a lot of people can get it confused with portland, oregon. i love ivory, i wish they'd get back together, i miss them :(

i used to live south of portland maine. now i live north of portland, oregon up in washington.

of course more people know about portland oregon...not many people even remember maine as being a state....its kinda funyn though cause portland oregon was named after portland maine....it was a toss up between the two guys that founded it...one from boston and one from portland....and we know who one
