Vivo muriendo prisionero

Mariposa traicionera
Todo se lo lleva el viento
Mariposa, no regreso

Nunca jamás junto a ti

Vuela amor, vuela dolor
Y no regreses a un lado
Ya vete de flor en flor
Seduciendo a los pistilos
Y vuela cerca del sol
Pa' que sientas lo que es dolor

Ay, mujer, cómo haces daño
Pasan los minutos cual si fueran años
Mira estos celos, me están matando

Ay, mujer qué fácil eres
Abres tus alitas, muslos de colores
Donde se posan tus amores

Mariposa traicionera
Todo se lo lleva el viento
Mariposa, no regreso

Nunca jamás junto a ti

Vuela amor, vuela dolor
Que tengas suerte en tu vida
Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay dolor
Yo te lloré todo un río
Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, amor
Tú te me vas a volar

this song is not about hookers, but about a love that came and went, I felt like this once, felt in love, it didn't last she move on, so did I, but I always remember, I guess some of the prints of our first love will always be with us. Mana los mas chidos.

    My Opinion

I agree that this song may be about a guy who falls for a hooker. To me this song is the equivalent of Phil Collin's "Easy Lover" song.

It's a song about a guy who falls for a woman who's a player/easy lover and knows that he can't have her.

He's letting her know he's moving on.

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
