This song describes earth. We live off of the excess or "Fat" of the sun. Black spot in the sky with diamonds... describes the moon in the middle of the night sky. Its essentially saying that we have hours to do whatever because the universe blows up, therefore making them important or "shining hours"
that's my take on it.

i thought this meant that we need nothing more than simple and beautiful things such as the sweet sun shining to keep us not only physically alive, but happy and in complete awe.

the beginning of the universe. scientists have come up with a the most impossible thing, the very limit test of credulity, and based their whole theory of the creation of this universe and the laws that govern it on this clever lie. if you can believe it possible that the whole universe sprang from nothing in a single instant, than what will you find impossible? nothing is more impossible than that. we don't need this clever lie to give us a bedizened sky.
