Fire Fire Lyrics

Growin up, Brewin Up
Guerilla gettin trained up
Look out look out
From over the Rooftop

Growin up, Brewin Up
Guerilla gettin trained up
Look out Look out
From over the rooftop

Competition coming up now
Load up,
Aim,
Fire Fire,
Pop

Pop

Row Da Boat - Straight to da ocean
Give 'im a run - A run at his own game
Signal the plane - An' I landed on the runway
A survivor, independant foreigner

First your beats had me running to the running man
Then your chat had me wanna do the bogie man
Click suits and booted in the timberland
Freakin out to Missy on a Timbaland

Growin up, Brewin Up
Guerilla gettin trained up
Look out Look out
From over the rooftop

Growin up, Brewin Up
Guerilla gettin trained up
Look out Look out
From over the rooftop

Competition coming up now

Fire Fire,
Pop

You shoulda been good to me
Then I wouldn't get so rowdy rowdy
You shoulda kept ya eye on me
Then I wouldn't get so baddy baddy

Whether you are...
Swinging out to Swing beat
Laying low and jacking-up to Lou Reed
Chasin out to Pixies and the Beasties
Doin aceed with Hair-Coloured Geek Freaks
FFWD onto the' 04
Got my own flow get you to the dance floor
Little mamma doin the booty rolls
Crump clowns got me rootin for the linos

I wouldn't know, seeing as I promised to ban the OC the very episode where Death Cab For Cutie performed.

Regardless I love all of the shout-outs in this song. I mean she even devotes a bit to "crump clowns". Lmfao.

I love this woman.

This album is the best debut since Homework, Remedy, Ready To Die, etc.

This song seems really political, but it's actually not. Direct quote: "I wrote this about the music industry. It's not actually that political at all. It's basically just saying that if the mainstream doesn't communicate with the marginal people, they'll turn around and create it themselves, ya know? That's really what it was. I felt like the mainstream had stopped catering to me, and I was pissed off that they think that my mental age was twelve & You know how everything is geared up towards, like, brainwashing people and telling them that they're dumber than they actually are, or thinking that people aren't capable of digesting more what they are actually capable of digesting. And I really felt like I was hearing a lot of that with the music industry people sort of going, You can't really talk about politics in music. You can't talk about this in music. You have to keep your music real simple so people get it. And really, we were actually playing a part in dumbing people down, and I felt like I didn't really want to be a part of that and I wanted to make a statement and be like, no! You can carry on doing that this is how you build the other."

It's in a track-by-track interview that is quite interesting, you should go read it! http://musicstore.connect.com/album/187/M-I-A-/Arular/500000000000010254622.html

At first I thought this might be about her relationship with Diplo, but after reading what she has to say about it, it makes a lot of sense.

I know that "Jacking up to Lou Reed" must be a nod to the song Heroin, but does anyone know what "Chasing out to Pixies and the Beasties" means? Also, if this really is a song about the music industry, "missy" might be "Missy" and "Timberland" might be "Timbaland" (who produced "Get Ur Freak On," according to Wikipedia).

interesting cause she teamed up with Timbaland on "Come Round" on her 2nd album... ha ha

For years I have been hearing "jacking off to Lou Reed" and even singing along! It was one of my favorite lines of hers! "Laying low and jacking off to Lou Reed"...yeah...damn.
