i onced listened to this song 300 consecutive times. i like all the Jude references, too. i thought the lyrics went a different way but I think there's a lot of room for interpretation:

i saw them perform this live and when it came to the like "she took a sad song, made it sadder" they performed it in a more sing-songy way instead of yelling it and left the whole audience singing it for the rest of the night
