Triptych Lyrics

Here the soil is barren
Here, nothing grows
But crosses
They, know not what they do
You, your forgiveness
Falls as dew
Nailed upon a wooden frame
Twisted yet unbroken
Open-mouthed, a silent choir
Understood, unspoken
Never was there heard a sound
Until the heavens opened
Now the tide is turning
To other-wordly yearning
Through the sun's eclipse seems final
Surely he will rise again

Yes Nomad it is a transcendent song- sounds like it could be an old chant song from centuries ago. A very beautiful unique and worshipful song! I wondered if Bryan Ferry was a Christian but I saw no mention of his religious beliefs. But a beautiful and profound song nonetheless! Sometimes God brings praise from those who don't believe!

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

[1 Timothy 3:16]

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:

And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.

Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.

For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:

And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. [1 Corinthians 15:12-17]

Song Meaning

@NomadMonad Yes- a very transcendent song! So beautiful. Sounds like it could have come from centuries ago- like an old chanting song of worship. I've loved this song for years. It made me wonder if Bryan Ferry was a Christian- but I saw no mention of his religious beliefs anywhere. But God can use anyone to glorify Him! God bless! Whether Bryan is a Christian or not it is a profoundly beautiful song.

Still no TRUE Roxy fans comment on this transcendent song?

What gives? Is Christ not Lord and Savior?

@NomadMonad Not sure if anything "gives" when, after all, the answer to your second question is so categorical and simple. No.

Thank you kind sir for filling me in on that weighty question ☺

@NomadMonad -- You didn't comment on the Song Meanings page for Three and Nine. Does that make you not a "true fan"?

By the way, "true fan" is an elitist phrase. If people like Roxy Music without being ultra-passionate about it, who cares? In short, don't use it anymore.
