Never Know Who You're Friends Are Lyrics

Took some time for self-inspection
I felt it was time to move on
Waking up in nothing but remorse
Was killing me.

I guess I must have let you down
Sorry if you were depending on me
But I'm moving on
Sorry if you were leaning on me and you fell
But I had to look out for myself.

Did you know, did you care?
That you left my stranded out there
Left alone in the cold
I found a way to make it on my own

I guess I must have let you down
Sorry if you were depending on me
But I'm moving on
Sorry if you were leaning on me and you fell
But I had to look out for myself.

Did you wonder how I did it?
Do you wonder how I made it on my own?
(x4)

Oh yeah, I'm doing just fine
So thanks for asking.

I think this song is about having a friend that ends up doing nothing but weighing you down; & as much as you would like to stay & help him out, you have to do what's best for you. Though he's sorry for having to leave a friend behind, he knows what's best.

Love the song :)

this friend was doing nothing but hurting them. probably from just not being there. like they were being put beneath others. "do you wonder how I made it on my own" proves that the friend thinks he needs him. and inspite of the friend being.. well a bad friend, he is still sorry he's leaving because they used to be close and its hard to let go, but he kind of throws it back in his friends face in the last two lines.
