I just think it's about letting go of the past and if you don't let go, you'll never find happiness.

i think it means that if you are hanging onto the past or regretting something you will never be truly happy because you will be too preoccupied with what happened rather than the present.
you cant dwell on things in the past so you just have to let them go. this goes for not only our actions, but sometimes people even.
