Steady Rollin' Lyrics

You might've seen me underneath the poolhall lights
Well, baby, I go back each night
If you got a throat, I got a knife
Steady rollin' and I keep going

And I don't mind how quick the seasons change
You know to me there's everyone the same
The sweetest sunshine drips the drain
Death's comin' and I'm still runnin

Well, I come from the old time, baby
Too late for you to save me
If I remain then I'm to blame
But if you should ever need me
I'll go where you lead me
It's all the same
The same old game

My love and baby, she's a ball and chain
I still can travel but my speed is changed
I bring the money, I take the blame
Steady rollin' and I keep going

But I shot my wife today
Dropped her body in the Frisco Bay
I had no choice, it was the only way
Death's comin' and I'm still runnin

Well, I come from the old time, baby
Too late for you to save me
If I remain then I'm to blame
But if you should ever need me
I'll go where you lead me
It's all the same
The same old game

Out waltzing with the holy ghost
From the bowry to the Barbary coast
The land I'm from, you know I love the most
Steady rollin' and I keep going

And every day is just another town
The more I search and though the less I found
Me, I'm a sucker, just a slave to sound
Death's comin' and I'm still runnin

Well, I come from the old time, baby
Where all the kids are crazy
If I remain then I'm to blame
But if you should ever need me
I'll go where you lead me
It's all the same
The same old game

I think it is "debt's comin Im still runnin" not "It's comin Im still runnin"

I think it is more about the need to keep moving/travelling than about a man on the run from murder. I think the murder was a biproduct of his rambling. It was her or the road and he chose the road! By doing so in the fashion he decided upon, it made his travelling and running even more vital.

Great concept for a band that tours as much as they do (and as far as they do already).

Correction; The lyric you have posted:

"And it's coming and I'm still runnin'"

It's;

"Deaths comin' and I'm still runnin'"

This song is about them being on the road all the time going to show to show.

"If you got a throat, I got a knife" I believe this refers to him choking up the crowd with his music aka knife?

"I shot my wife today" Dropped her body in the Frisco Bay" this refers to his wife or loved one nagging him all the time about not wanting him to go so basically he feels like he has to ditch her to go on the road.

"I'm a sucker, just a slave to sound" this sums it all up, 2gs love what they do and love to perform, so they will basically kill their wifes to play music. hahaha
