Signal The Riflemen Lyrics
I can't work,
There's too many wars overseas.
There's too much creative juice in me,
to focus it on math.
So I'll pace around,
I'll chat with your answering machine.
As my thoughts drift unto the unclean,
I have to take them back.
You know, I know, they don't know anything,
About you and me and all our kind.
Reasonless, meaningless superiority,
Slaughtered symphonies in our minds.
This college cattle call,
Ships of the hundred herds of young and wealthy work horse mules.
The teachers label all the dreamers fools,
"We're not their fucking tools!"
You and me can set them free together,
With one hand on each other's
And the other on our weaponry, yeah.
You and me can set them free together,
All I need is your love, all I need is your love.
All I need is your love, and a revolution.
And you,
They fit you inside of a box.
They tie it with their proficient knots,
To keep you in the dark.
They're scared of your eyes
Cause they radiate blue.
Never ever stop dreaming the way you do,
The future holds a "Fuck you!" for them all.
One day, someday, I'll make it out of this
High school hell hole, fly away.
Don't waste time being mad at everything,
Freedom's only a breath away.
Caps will fly up, signal the rifleman.
Drop your gown and jet right out.
The sky engulfed in our triumphant shouts,
Yeah shout, shout it out!
You and me can set them free together,
With one hand on each other's
And the other on our weaponry, yeah.
You and me can set them free together,
All I need is your love, all I need is your love.
All I need is your love...
Let's make love on top of broken blackboards.
I'll slide the colored chalk around your every curve.
Our bodies warm and doused in perspiration.
I'll dry your tears, with torn up college applications.
Torn up college applications.
You and me can set them free together,
With one hand on each other's
And the other on our weaponry, yeah.
You and me can set them free together,
All I need is your love, all I need is your love.

"All I need is your love, and a revolution." ^ totally engraved that line on my ipod, and I smile every time I see it :)
i love this song. i interpret it as being a song with him talking to a girl he likes and he's trying to tell her you don't have to be stuck to a traditional life and you can go out and do what you're passionate about. just what i take from it.
love the school parts
"The teachers label all the dreamers fools."
I love that line!!
i think he's talking about america and it's capitalist greed, and how happiness is only truly possible by being isolated from that greed and traditionalism.
I'm pretty sure that he says "As my thoughts drift unto the unclean, I have to take a bath." not "As my thoughts drift unto the unclean, I have to take them back."
I want to start writing lyrics on all of my notebooks/folders/etc that relate to each of my classes.
There's too much creative juice in me, to focus it on math.
^ score for 5th hour.
i love this song soo much say anything is def my favorite band this song (and all of the others) just have so much meaning, feeling, and depth in them whatever my problem is, there's always a song of theirs that i can relate to
This is just about my favorite say anything song. The part with the making love behind the broken black board...ahhh best! the whole concept of the song is miagnificent. Max Bemis is my hero.
Ahh, this song has done a lot for me. Finishing high school, there's not a word of this that hasn't been going through my head nonstop. And Max completely puts it into words.
Of course, this can be about more than just school. It can be about anything 'assumed' in our society, that holds us back from having naturally developing experiences and relationships. We need to question the social norms we're faced with every day. The way we look at school and learning is one of them. We can't control some things, we can just let them flourish.
This song is especially perfect if you're holding someone's hand through your school days. You both see the horrors among you, but it's okay. You're in it together, and in the end, all you need is each other's love.
...and a rifle for the revolution!
