Can't Take It In Lyrics

Can't close my eyes
They're wide awake
Ev'ry hair on my body
has got a thing for this place
Oh empty my heart
I've got to make room for this feeling
so much bigger than me

It couldn't be any more beautiful - I can't take it in.

Weightless in love...unraveling
For all that's to come
and all that's ever been
We're back to the board
with every shade under the sun
Let's make it a good one

It couldn't be any more beautiful - I can't take it in.

I only discovered this song by chance when I was looking for more of Imogen's songs on Spotify. I enjoyed both Narnia films - particularly the second one that started (after the London tube scenes) with the children arriving at Cathedral Cove on New Zealand's North Island. This song for me evokes memories of when I first discovered New Zealand which, apart from my home of England, is by far my favourite place on this planet. I do wonder whether Imogen has been to New Zealand and seen the places where the first Narnia film was shot - at a place (aptly) called Paradise, which is a tiny, tiny hamlet of 3 or 4 houses just outside a small village called Glenorchy near Queenstown (which is itself my favourite area in New Zealand). I cannot help but think that Imogen would have had that film location in mind when she wrote this song. Whenever I get the chance to go there, I too have that "Oh empty my heart" feeling; the sun's shining, the sky is a vivid and piercing blue, the Dart river rushes and gurgles past, the ancient ancient forest grows up either side of the valley and the mountains - oh, the mountains!

Considering this song was made for the Narnia film (using this song was the perfect way to end the movie, I think) I think the meaning of this song can be interpreted in a pretty straight-forward manner. It's about visiting a new place you've never been to before (ie Narnia) yet being blown away instantly by it. It's a spot where she can feel both comfortable and in awe. It has exceeded all expectation and then some.

This song is spectacular. It makes me feel as if I'm in this mystical, breath takingly beautiful place that's just so perfect and serene in every way. So much in fact that I just can't take it all in. Amazing.

Well what I think, is that it's singing about someone who's falling in love for the first time. You all probably know what it's like; feeling weightless and off your feet. You need to "empty your heart" so you can make room for this new feeling that overwhelms you.

^ Yeah, I think so. I also think it's about when something really amazing happens in your life or you see something really beautiful and you can't take it in because it's so amazing.

This reminds me of my favorite place on Earth, Camp Narnia, which was based on the books, and was friggin amazing. It felt like this to drive up to Camp on the first day, to sleep out under the stars in a huge field, and just to be there. This song means so much to me :)

Does anyone else realize that the song at the end of "The Chronicles of Narnia" is different (sounds like a "rougher" copy, to me) than the one on the soundtrack? The lyrics SOUND like this:

Can't close my eyes... what if it goes? Deep down inside it's got ahold of me...

Oh empty my heart.... (and then it continues with the lyrics we already know)

And, the second verse isn't even there.

I LOVE the version at the end of the movie, by the way; I find the lyrics just as (if not more) moving, in the beginning, and wish I could find an MP3 of this song, but I have searched and searched, and I have found nothing.

And, like many have said, this song lifts me up into the clouds and I soar amongst them. It has been a year since I discovered this song, and it still moves me more than ever, and I have listened to it, on and off, the entire year. It is my favorite song in the entire woooooorld.
