i love this song! anyone know what it means?

According to Teddy, this is a song dealing with school... but to me, I'm not really sure what it means!

If I take into consideration that the song is about school, I think it's about a teenager that just wants to have fun, and hang out with his friends, not do homework. Every year, the workload gets harder, but he just wants to "play games" and procrastinate. I'm guessing he's saying, look what not doing our work did for us. But I might be totally wrong

yeah, this song makes me think of me. one year left of college, and look where i'm at. i never want to do anything but play.

idk i guess the school thing makes sense, but when i listen to it, i think about a relationship. maybe they are in love, maybe they rnt, but either way theyre not on the same track. he wants to get serious and make a future, she wants to have fun and live in the present.

Neither person is wrong, but the relationship will never work since they will never be on the same page. sometimes love isnt enough. its the hardest thing in the world to leave someone when you still love them, even if you know its right (i would know :-/).

i know that this isnt what the song is really about, but thats what it means to me.

Marsoccer88, a song might have a straight forward. right to the point kind of meaning behind it that is oh-so-obvious when you hear it (take Unfaithful by Rihanna for example) but no person is right or wrong in the way they connect with the song. Given that there doesn't appear to be a direct meaning to this one in particular, unless Teddy himself tells us what it means, we're all going to interpret the lyrics in our own way.

Personally, I feel the song is about someone who slacks off and really lives for the moment and someone else who gets what needs to be done, done and only then has he/she (in this case he) earned some personal downtime with his friends. These lyrics: "You'll find that I fought for the right To laugh with my eyes till tears would fall And the salt would hit my lips" Are what make me think so...

my first impression of this song was that it was about a relationship; and I still believe that.

My opinion is that its about this girl who keeps hanging off him and not giving him a break; and interfearing with his regular life; and look where we are now means that he has broken it off with her because of her hanging off him. And in the bridge he is sayign we could start it all over again if she would give him some space and he could move in his own direction aswell as be with her.

This is a song where it can be put in any situation though I guess.

Rereading the lyrics, I have to agree more strongly than I did before that yes, this very well could be a love song. It occurred to me that Marsoccer88 made a good analysis.
