I think it's about a relationship with a girl that he wants, but knows will never happen. So he replaces her with others. He knows thinking about the girl he can't have is a waste of time and driving him crazy... but he can't stop.

I think that he's trying to find an ideal love, more than anything -- "I found your name in a song" -- I don't think he means it literally, just the idea of this girl. But it ends up that he's just going to go out and find some girl that will never be the one that he really is obsessed with.

Um, an imaginary unrequited love?
