Did You See the Words Lyrics

Have you seen them?
The words cut open
Your poor intestines
Can't deny
When the inky periods drip from your mailbox and
Blood flies, dip and glide, reach down inside
Grab inside
There's something living in these lines

And when your newest kisser is peeking
You dress yourself up tonight
Get all tangled up in arms and legs, it's cramped up and
Someone grabs a hold, do you go oh oh oh!?
Should you go home?
There's something starting, don't know why

And in a house so cozy
Few words are spoken
Let's take our shoes off and unwind
When there's minuets off in the background drowning out
Eyes off, ears off, test the kiss goodnight
A kiss goodnight
Dont keep my loving on my mind

Because its messy, yes, this mess is mine
Though mine is messy, yours is maybe nine

Look we've had similar stitches
Look we have similar frowns
Do the elderly couples still
Kiss and hug and
Grab their big wrinkly skin, so tough, wrinkly wrink, wrink wrinkly rough?

Did you see the words you know
Give me rabies, hand me babies at the hospital
Violent ends with friends that go
I kissed a few in sticky shoes our cartoon show is broken

It sounds like he's grinning through the course of the whole song.

Language is an open ended and visceral affair with no lack of blood and guts. The exchange of this mess must necessarily happen by mail, by post. We are sent, we send one another, we send ourselves in a mailbox filled with our ink, both written and secreted (and kept secret). In writing and sending ourselves, we inevitably obscure ourselves. It's messy but its ours. Language is alive and as we write, we notice how, regardless of whether it is spoken or written, it is the study of zoology. The question remains, however, whether we can ever classify this animal.

perfection.

Very sexual song. I agree with most of couldBanyone. Also something to note is the quote "though mine is messy yours is maybe nine". Though my sexual function as a man is messy, your function as a woman could mean nine months of pregnancy. Maybe I'm overanalyzing...but that's what I got.

WHY DOES READING THIS TURN ME ON WHY

Sounds like a treasure chest with voices coming out of its mouth.

Hahaha, you're kind of brilliant for saying so.

"Did You See The Words?" = "Didn't you realize that because of (what happened in the first verse, her menstruation) that you were likely to get pregnant if we fucked?! Now you've got me foaming at the mouth, ready to hang babies at the hospital!"

Or the first verse could actually be told out of order. It might be that this is actually a very happy story that goes wrong and she has a miscarriage "There's something living in these lines". And the remainder of the song is just the conflict that occurs from the idea that they were about to have this lovely child together.

I actually originally read the first verse as how communication in a letter can be incredibly hostile though the letter provided the information needed for the couple to hook-up. The next verse is getting dressed up and eventually the two having sex. The next verse is years later in a comfortable house and I figured it might have been the tale of a relationship before I realized its probably a much more sinister song.

I've always read "Cuckoo Cuckoo" as being a song about miscarriage rather than loss of childhood innocence. I feel like Sung Tongs is all about loss, as well. So perhaps there is more of a chance that this song isn't simply a ridiculously deep and open way of explaining the troubles between a couple, in particular how a guy is fucking pissed about the fact that he's having a kid, but rather about a miscarriage that on the surface is a relief but on a deeper level creates horrible anger. Perhaps the entire song starts with a miscarriage and the remainder of it is them trying to go out on the town and have a good time and have sex. Perhaps the letter from the beginning was both her miscarriage and dually a letter from the doctor's saying the results are back and you are no longer pregnant. And as the song progresses they try to continue their relationship like nothing is wrong "Let's try a kiss goodnight" but it simply doesn't work. At the end, everything is all wrong because there is something missing, and they break-up.

i finally, finally get the genuine meaning of. its a song about falling in love and going through every phase from the initial realization to the moment before making real love for the first time. and then they have a very serious argument down the line in their relationship but it doesn't matter because they love each other so much. the ending is so triumphant and goes to show that a baby came out of it (possibly makeup sex haha). such a beautiful, beautiful song that is in a nutshell, the entire timeline of the beginning stages of a pure relationship.

Parts of this song are cryptic, in typical animal collective fashion. Here's my two cents on the parts I can understand.

The section about your newest kisser could perhaps be the narrator himself or a new romantic interest. She is going out to a party and "dress your self up" refers to this. In the dance, or perhaps in a more sexual way she becomes "tangled up in arms and legs...someone grabs a hold do you go ooooh." The "something starting" refers to those unusual first feelings of love. The romance has begun. The next section about a nighttime in a house so "cozy" is a very personal one-on-one situation between the lover and his girl. Especially wonderful is his "test a kiss goodnight" which I believe reflects that tentative awkwardness between young lovers who are becoming intimate for the first time. The section about "look we have similar stiches etc..." in my opinion relates a past history of emotional scars or forgotten loves. The narrator is saying to his love that they have the same past and the same emotions (frowns). The ending is a bit strange I still haven't got my head around that. "Bring me babies" obviously refers to a birth (SLIPPI! haha couln't resist), but the rest I can't understand.

no affence, but to be honest, everything you just pointed out is obvious, :/ please dont take affence! :D
